Aug 15, 2024 : St. Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE), Udupi, erupted in patriotic fervor on August 15th as it celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day. The event, meticulously organized by the students of Grade 7 A and B, was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Maxim, a distinguished member of Mother of Sorrows Church, and Sister Sahaya Mary, the respected Principal of St. Cecily’s PU College.

The day commenced with a solemn prayer service, setting a reverent tone. Sister Lathika, the school principal, extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, Mr. Maxim, and other dignitaries. Unnathi and Sanvi Shenoy presented a floral tribute to the esteemed guests.

Mr. Maxim, the chief guest, proudly hoisted the National Flag, igniting patriotic fervor among the assembly. A captivating array of cultural performances followed, commencing with a vibrant fancy dress showcasing India’s iconic leaders. The melodious dance, “Leharado,” set the stage for a mesmerizing cultural extravaganza. A thought-provoking skit, highlighting the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the essence of unity in diversity, left a lasting impact.

The grand finale was a spellbinding dance performance, “Jayatu Jayatu,” which enthralled the audience. Mr. Maxim’s inspiring speech further ignited the patriotic spirit within everyone present. The event culminated with the distribution of prizes to the winners of July’s competitions and a heartfelt vote of thanks by Nidhi, a student of Grade 7.Briona, Deeshna and Bhumika, the competent emcees of Grade 7, seamlessly guided the program.

The Independence Day celebration at St. Cecily’s was a resounding success, fostering a deep sense of patriotism and unity among students and staff alike.

To add to the festive atmosphere, delectable sweets were distributed among the enthusiastic students and their families.
