The one-day Cubs, Bulbuls, Scouts, and Guides Summer Camp was held on 1st April 2025 at St. Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School, Udupi, creating an enriching and memorable experience for the young participants. The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Mahima, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day. The presence of the esteemed chief guest, Mr. Vithesh, and our respected Principal, Sr. Lathika, added significance to the occasion.

Scouting and guiding play a vital role in shaping young minds, fostering qualities like teamwork, leadership, and resilience. As the founder of scouting, Robert Baden-Powell, once said, “The real way to gain happiness is to give it to others.” This philosophy resonated throughout the day’s activities, emphasizing the importance of service, self-reliance, and personal growth.

The program commenced with a solemn prayer, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. A motivational talk by the resource person, Mr Vithish, inspired the participants, igniting their enthusiasm to explore the values and skills of scouting and guiding.

After a wholesome breakfast, the participants eagerly delved into various engaging activities. They began with foundational scouting and guiding lessons, including troop formation and the vibrant welcome clapping, which helped build a strong sense of camaraderie. Hands-on learning sessions on different types of knots provided practical skills essential for scouting adventures, while an interactive session on navigation and map-reading through mini hiking symbols enhanced their understanding of outdoor survival techniques.

A vital first aid training session equipped the young scouts and guides with fundamental lifesaving skills, ensuring they are prepared to handle emergency situations confidently. The woodcraft sign game tested their creativity and problem-solving abilities, while the thrilling “Kim’s Game” challenged their memory and sensory perception, wrapping up the activities on an exciting note.

The camp concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Keerthi, acknowledging the efforts of the chief guest, the resource person, and the dedicated organizers who made the event a grand success. As the Cubs, Bulbuls, Scouts, and Guides departed, they carried with them not just new skills and friendships but also the invaluable lessons of preparedness, responsibility, and teamwork. With the scouting motto “Be Prepared” instilled in their hearts, they are now better equipped to face challenges and make a positive impact in their communities.
